A Week 4 "Shellacking" Sends Nighthawks to 0-4
The Nighthawks fly back to the coup with yet another loss on their 2009 docket. The most recent culpirt being the San Francisco Thunder Sharks, led by Dan Kimbar. The receiver torched the Nighthawk Defense by catching 4 balls for 60 yards and a touchdown. If that wasnt enough he ensured the Thunder Shark victory by returning a kickoff straight back the other way, for 7 more points. San Fran Running Back, Jeff Paul also anchored the Running game with 14 touches for 51 yards and 2 td's of his own. Not far behind was Thunder Shark second teamer, Timmy North snagging 8 carries for 31 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Besides being torched for 3 passing td's, 3 rushing td's, and a kickoff td there was good news for the Nighthawks. Danny May was 14/20 for a 139 and 2 touchdown passes. He unfortunately added an interception to that total, but his day was respectable. J-Rod ran the ball 11 times but only was able to collect 30 yards, however he added a Touchdown to that total. The rushing was furthered by promising backup Jetta Shanklin grabbing 25 yards on 8 attempts. Inspiring rookie RB Ronnie Boston packed on 4 carries for 16 yards out of the "Wildhawk" formation. Offensive Specialist Ben Stern did his part with 4 catches for 74 yards and a touchdown himself. OL/DL Charlie Bryant picked up a 4 yard sack in the game but tore his pcl in the process. Early estimates say that he will miss in excess of 11 weeks, putting him back in the lineup just before the year ends.
So not all news is bad but no news is good. It looks like the Nighthawks have to pick their heads up and gear up for a home stand here in Bismarck versus San Diego.
